Was Pete Rose a great champion?

I think he was. He battled his demons and will never be in the HOF but Charlie Hustle was a champion of the highest caliber, even though he did gamble on baseball and use PED's. We all must face the demons of our own nature I watch baseball because the players are gods at the game I love not because I believe they are great moral men.
